The Healing Powers of Water is a continuation of Masaru Emoto’s work with the effects of consciousness on water, which he made visible by freezing the water and photographing the crystals.
Inspired by the statement that no two snowflakes are alike, Emoto first looked at the crystals as an indication of the state and origin of the water. His experiments showed the water crystals did indeed look different and that some water, such as chlorinated water or water from the lower areas of rivers and dams, was unable to form complete crystals. From there, he started experimenting to see if music changed water and from there, if words did.
His photos do show a difference; the water labeled things like “love” and “thank you” and “lucky” formed beautiful, symmetrical crystals, while labels like “bad luck” and “demon” had deformed crystals. (This for me brings up questions. Like, would water really think demon was bad? They both seem elemental, and water seems powerfully non-judgmental, equally nurturing or devastating or cleansing to all things, depending on the situation. But I’m overthinking and maybe it’s what the person thinks that affects the water. Anyway, I digress. The photos are neat.)
The thing I find intriguing about all this is how this affects us, since we’re around 60% water. At the very least, it’s another reason to say nice things to yourself.
