The Jefferson Bible

Something to Ponder

Did you know that Thomas Jefferson edited his own version of the Bible? Jefferson created the Jefferson Bible by cutting out passages from six copies of the New Testament, each in a different language (Greek, Latin, French, and English), and then arranging these passages into a single volume.

The Jefferson Bible focuses on the moral teachings and philosophy of Jesus, excluding miracles, the resurrection, and other supernatural events.

Jefferson advocated for religious freedom and tolerance, believing that one's religious beliefs were a personal matter and should not be imposed on others.

The Bible is a powerful symbol in our current society, often representing absolute authority for many people. However, as a creation of human beings, it has the potential to be flawed despite its inspiration. Those who claim the authority of the Bible are, in many cases, asserting their own authority over others.
