"What does the research say?"

What does the research say?

By Roger Morimoto

“What does the research suggest?” When applied to spirituality, this seemingly scientific question becomes a gateway to intriguing possibilities.  What, indeed, does the research say?

The “hard” sciences, such as String theory, M-theory, Membrane Theory, Cosmological Theories, and mathematical insights, all point to a multidimensional reality. The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is testing for gravitational waves that indicate the presence of extra dimensions.

The science of consciousness looks at near-death experiences (NDEs) to suggest our consciousness continues after our physical bodies end.  Cognitive and consciousness sciences now study telepathy, psychokinesis, and apparitions as legitimate inquiries. Reincarnation studies are done with children who have memories of life’s lived before.

Quantum Consciousness is becoming a theory proposed by physicists like Dr. Stuart Hameroff and Dr. Roger Penrose. They theorize that consciousness arises from quantum processes within the brain’s microtubules. This suggests that consciousness is a fundamental aspect of the universe, possibly allowing it to persist beyond death.

The anomalous cognitions studies at the Stanford Research Institute (SRI) have for years suggested that consciousness can access information beyond the immediate physical environment, implying it may not be confined to the body.

And, of course, Transpersonal Psychology has always suggested a continuing consciousness after death.

As we explore spirituality in this age of science and technology, let us ask, “What does the research say?” It is the pertinent spiritual question of our day and will give us a new understanding of life!
